This course is aimed at all staff working in the Health and Social Care sector who have the day-to-day responsibility of caring and supporting a bariatric resident.
At the end of the training session, there is a written and practical assessment to evidence the learning of the attendees.

Moving and Assisting
Describe the importance of a clear and comprehensive bariatric moving and assisting policy and strategy
Describe what balanced decision making is and how it is applied in the context of moving and assisting.
Demonstrate the principles of carrying out a risk assessment for bariatric moving and assisting.
Equipment
Identify the range of bariatric equipment available
Discuss the importance of having the appropriate equipment in place for safe bariatric handling techniques.
Practical session
Practical session including the use of a bariatric simulation suit.
