Ellen Smith
Ellen Smith has been a dedicated member of Carers First for almost 7 years. She began her journey in the Carers First Helpline, where she gained extensive knowledge and experience in supporting carers. Currently, Ellen leads the Innovation and Development project team, spearheading innovative programs to enhance services and support for carers. She works collaboratively with carers, staff teams, volunteers, and network partners to drive positive changes and improve outcomes for unpaid carers.

Speaker Session Title: Are You A Carer?
Are you a carer? Are you supporting a friend or family member who cannot manage without your help? Would you like to know more about what a carer is and the impact of caring for someone with dementia? Would you like to know more about balancing caring and working? If you would like to know more this session is for you.
During this session Ellen Smith, from the organisation Carers First who will be covering various themes relating to carers and dementia.
Themes discussed will include:
• Increasing carer confidence in accessing support
• Understanding rights as a carer in the workplace
• Understanding caring for someone with dementia and its impact
• Support with planning for the future and difficult conversations
The aim of this session is to increase confidence in balancing caring and working, and receive information, advice and guidance around building resilience and wellbeing when caring for someone.
